Can we have a Admin Demo or maybe some screenshots to show possible clients how this is integrate with GT?
Are you thinking to add more option to the plugin, maybe some auto generate QR, many people don’t print this coupons/vouchers, sometimes they just save the image on their mobile.

You can log into the site as demouser / demouser now and all Hotels (plus 1 restaurant) are available to add vouchers on either the front or back end.
The Settings page itself isn’t available on the demo yet, due to security restrictions. So I’ve posted a ScreenShot here: http://tyni.ca/gtvs
I’m always considering more options. The PDF generator supports bar-codes, including QR so it’s something I can look at. There no real requirement to have the voucher printed. The merchant could choose to accept it on a mobile. They don’t even have to track them.

Can GT-Vouchers be set up to display coupons/deals only to those people that are signed in as members on GT? This would be an incentive for visitors to a GT powered site to sign up/log in as these special deals would not be available to anyone but members.

The plugin currently doesn’t include any kind of eCommerce and is built on the Special Features of GeoTheme. I can see where you’d want the option for a free/basic package to buy voucher access, but I’m hesitant to introduce eCommerce where it already exists in GeoTheme. Ideally GeoTheme would allow for the upgrade to a hidden package that isn’t on the public site.
As to the listing – yes, there’s a ShortCode you can put onto a page or post that will list all available vouchers, or those in a specific category. I’m looking at both search integration & marking listings that have vouchers in lists, grids & search results.

Does this plugin, allow us to get notification on our email with the details of the one who downloads the voucher, for example email address, name, and some extra fields we request?
For example I am store owner and I have the voucher system on my package, and when someone downloads the voucher I want their email address, name, phone number, and perhaps two extra fields that needs to be filled before receiving the coupon to visitor,
Also all details needs to be email to the store owner and also administrator of the website, so we can track how much sales from our website has generate to the store owners and also both administrator of the website also store receives the unique generated coupon code so its a valid coupon.

Currently there is no support for extra fields, nor for emailing someones(s) for each download. On a busy site, that could get overwhelming for recipients, but I can add that to the list of options.
There are DOWNLOADABLE reports of all emails (including the voucher code on the voucher) and also daily emails to the business owner showing the number of downloads. There are some legal issues for site owners to consider before making the email addresses available to 3rd parties (listing owners), so the download report can be hidden from the listing owner, and the daily emails do not currently include the list of downloaders.
In my opinion, requiring extra fields before downloading is a barrier to people downloading a voucher, and not something I’d likely add to the plugin without a lot of requests for it. Other than phone number, fields are likely to be different for everyone so that means creating a framework of custom fields.
The validity of the coupon/voucher has something I’ve thought was missing from this plugin from the original. There is/was a request to make a “Validator” available on the website so that listing owners could verify the coupon. This is on the development list, but hasn’t been presented as an issue except for the one request.
I appreciate your feedback and look forward to your comments and those of anyone else who wants to support SkyLordz ideas.
Ok great, I am satisfied about this. Apart from not now but how about if you could integrate LIKE to download options also. where we can set on each voucher a specific Facebook page that they have to like then they can download

I have just downloaded this plugin and I have alos had a look at your demo site. In teh readme,txt your say:
“….allowing business/listing owners to attach special vouchers to their listing and edit them from the front end.”
How do they edit from teh front end – I cannot see this in your demo site, and I cannot see how to add this to the Add Listing form… I am probably missing something obvious.

Fantastic plugin – I think teh business on my site will love being able to add Vouchers.

Version 1.6.7 is the latest and will be applied as an auto-download once you’ve installed.
Version 1.7 will be a little while coming out, and no other versions will be released until then. Due to the function of WordPress’s plugin updater, updating deletes all custom templates!

Does version 1.6.7 allow a coupon available feature on the listing views? That’s what I’m waiting for, a way for users to quickly know what listings have coupons.

I have been using this plugin and it works well – howvere I have been checking out my site speed and I noticed that with GT Vouchers enabled my site load time increase by a second. Which may not seem a lot but with GT Vouchers diabled mt site laods in 0.5 sec…..

Any news on Scamp’s issue with site loading times?
I’ve confirmed, locally and on my own site, that loading times are increasing and now I’m investigating exactly WHAT is causing it. I see that there’s at least 1 JS file loading when it’s not needed, but I think it’s more likely a database query that’s inefficient. Tracking this down is a bit tedious, but I will find it.
Posted a reply to Scamp’s later comment – Version 1.7.4 is seeding out over the next 12-24 hours (depending when your site checks) and uses a transient to manage the list of available vouchers – significantly reducing load on the public side.
Ahha – also FYI: Ultimate SEO and GT vouchers don’t play well together. It’s either one or the other.
Ultimate SEO makes downloaded voucher get corrupt. Tested and proven – believe me.
I’m currently using the Child Theme from Geo Theme. I bought the GT Voucher Plugin to run with, but my problem is when I upload a icon for the voucher, it displays over the ‘Add To Favorite’ link on the listing (I can’t seem to find a place to remove the ‘Add To Favorite’). How can I correct this?
If I choose the option for the user to fill in his email before receiving the voucher, where does that email addresses go to?

I had the same problem and amended the styling in wp-content/plugins/gt-vouchers/js/gtv-public.js
The voucher icon and link now appear underneath and inline with ‘Add To Favorite’ – the relevant part of the file now reads…

Duster, the problem with your suggestion is that it will be over-written with the next update.

Any news on the speed issue??
Hi Scamp – I think I’ve fixed the speed issue. Version 1.7.4 is seeding out now. It will use a transient that expires every hour – or whenever a change to any voucher is made – so it should always be fresh.
This means that once in a while a user may see a slight slowdown, but most of the time they should not.
On my test site tonight it dropped the load time significantly. I’d love to hear your feedback.

The email address is added to a custom table in your database. The plugin also features the ability to download the list of addresses (by site admin and listing owners) to be imported into another tool for emailing.
I’ve had several requests for auto-responder integration and hope to complete that sometime soon.
I have just installed and have a problem. The voucher seems to be saving fine and it shows as it should do on the listing entry but when i download it just get a pdf with blank template and none of the voucher copy showing. Running GT 3.1.3.
I installed on a duplicate site on a different server and all worked fine that was running GT 3.1.2
Any idea what could be happening here ?

This is an amazing plugin and really helps take GT to another level.
So far my only observations are:-
1. It definitely seems to be slowing down my site as per previous users comments but will wait patiently for a fix to this which I appreciate is being worked on
2. From an admins point of view creating a voucher seems quite straightforward and works. However it can take a short while to get used to the interface and it worries me that customers with listings will find the add voucher screen a little confusing. Our experience is that for many businesses if they don’t quickly understand what they need to do quickly they’ll give up. Are their any plans to improve the user ‘s add and edit voucher facility … ideally incorporating the whole process within the add listing/edit listing interface?
Please don’t take this as a criticism, overall this plugin is awesome !

As to the Voucher creation – perhaps you could explain which parts you’re concerned about in that same email? And any suggestions for improvement. I haven’t heard this from anyone else yet – but eventually they will speak up too!
I have installed as recommended on the readme file. I’ve got the same issue as getawaydigital : blank voucher.
I removed the plugin and started again, but no luck. Still not working.
I’m working with GT 1.3.3.
About improvement :
- be able to add the Name and email address printed on the voucher
- enable multi opening when Name and Email Adress are printed on the voucher

I’m not entirely clear on your 2 improvements. Which name and email address do you want on the voucher and what do you mean by “Multi opening”?

About the improvement:
- Today, if you make the voucher available through email, then user is requested to mention a working email address and a name.
You could add another option to enable these email address and name to be printed on the voucher directly. This gives a stronger uniqueness to the voucher.
- Today, the voucher is downloadable only one time. As a primary user, it’s frustrating because user could believe the voucher could be downloadable naturally many times and also because he would not have the time to save it right away on his disk the first time he’s opening it. If email and name are printed on the coupon, you could enable users to redownload the coupon to save it when they have time to do it or simply to reopen it when needed. This is like a ‘protection’ to let users access to the voucher many times.

May I add other suggestions :
1. Add an option giving the capability to decide numbers of times you can access to a voucher without printing it. Users can be frustrated to open their voucher a first time and not being able to do it after getting a message that voucher was already opened.
2. when users are already logged on GT, just collect their name and email and print in on the voucher.

I would suggest also an option that allows listing owners to upload their own templates maximum 5 templates only, so whenever they want to switch from template the can access their own templates later.
on the back-end there will be for each listing a separate folder created where all the templates for the vouchers saves.
each user can have different templates then.
Here’s an idea worth mentioning. Let’s say a voucher has sold out – let the user sign up for future vouchers from this merchant.
A msg stating something like this:
Sorry – All sold out but sign up for “listing name” future vouchers by clicking here.
Hi Jeff… I was wondering if there’s a way to keep the listing’s thumbnail in the voucher (as shown in your demo) so it’s present when it’s downloaded/printed.
I’m wanting listing owners to upload their logo as their 1st image, so it would be their logo that’s placed on the voucher… Just makes sense that it would be printed on it.

I’m still around – not to worry. I’m debating where to go with GT-Vouchers given the complete overhaul of GeoTheme that’s on-going. The idea of having to implement features now and then re-write the whole plugin is a tough one to manage.
Also the plugin is fairly stable so I’ve been letting it settle in a bit, I’m considering what to implement next. With new features & changes come more problems for people. Several people have this running on busy production sites and I don’t want to destabilize those. More testing on my end.
So – what is everyone chomping at the bit for? What should be the next priority?

What are you using to run the daily deals? Just asking because I might do that myself at some stage, although at the minute the market’s a bit crowded here to say the least. However, a lot (more) of them will fall by the wayside sooner or later.

Actually, daily deal sites are the very same merchants I contact to sign up with me rather than living social or groupon.
The money is in the list and with Jeff’s Gtc the playing fields are leveled. Now merchants can start building a list or Facebook following for future marketing.
Something they currently cannot do with dd sites. I’ve actually heard of merchants having to close shop due to not using dd sites correctly.

1 question, does GT-Vouchers can be display or generated a Custom Field Link?
Im using the GT iOS App, and the only fields that are display are the Custom Fields, the GT-Vouchers under the Main Description are not display on the app, can you think in some kind of integration for the iOS app, maybe add the Voucher as a Place Picture? or just like a link to the Voucher Image.
I think the best way will be If you can add some kind of icon (display a “Voucher Available” icon) on the main list of places or that the “Voucher Available” can be another filter for place (like Comments, Rating and Distance), but if not, If you can create a custom field with the Voucher Image will be great!!

Question about Mobile Friendliness.
Once I’ve registered for a voucher on my phone (iPhone 4S) it directs me to my email.
the link is not hot on my phone, but it is on my laptop.
I’m trying to make this system more mobile friendly. Am I doing something wrong or is this only usable from a computer?
Or is there a better way to make this more mobile friendly for using it when you’re out?

Thanks to the explosion in popularity of sites like Groupon, coupons are more popular than ever!
But the days of your mother taking scissors to the Sunday paper to “clip coupons” are over. Mobile coupons are seeing triple-digit growth rates.
While printed coupons have a redemption rate of 1% – 4%, mobile coupons can hit a redemption rate of 30-40% because they are available directly on your phone, while you are shopping.
Your thoughts ?
I’m working on using IMAGES instead of PDF files when generating the vouchers, which should be more mobile friendly.
I have confirmed that the URL generated is not done as a LINK, but simply as a URL, thus it’s up to the email client to make it clickable. Since the plugin currently sends plain-text messages (not HTML) it can’t easily be made clickable.
As to what’s in the future – aside from using images – Mobile compatibility is important – I will have a look at the iPhone app API the guys have provided to see if that possible, as well as making the images mobile friendly.
Integration with auto-responders and/or SMS will grow the plugin core significantly, so I may offer these as add-on modules. Thoughts?
I’m open to suggestions. The more clear you can be, the better. I’m still not sure how much of this is territory for THIS plugin, versus others that might be better suited.

Oviliz – it currently does NOT work with Geo Places, but I could make some modifications. It may actually work BETTER since Geo Places has the hooks/actions required.

Jeff, the “voucher available” indicator on the listings page has disappeared with the recent update. I’m running the most current bp-child theme and geotheme.
The Voucher Available overwrites the Add to Favourites on listings/places as they appear following a search.
I’m comfortable updating PHP and CSS if you could direct me to the appropriate files that render the content.

Are the vouchers searchable? For example, if I want a list of Hairdressers, can I specify those that “have vouchers”?
Currently not in that way, no. However there is a shortcode that will allow you to list available vouchers by category.
That’s a great idea – I’ll have to look at the search filters that GeoTheme offers to see if I can attach.
Alternatively, you could add a custom field and use that as a filter – however that’s a very manual process.

On another matter…
Many of my listing businesses need a way to bring attention to their ‘general’ special offers and sales, rather than making specific offers via downloadable vouchers. For example, end of season sales or seasonal accommodation tariffs. Of course they can and do write them in the GT special offers area, but there’s no way of compiling a list of available specials, as is possible with GT-Vouchers. Would there be enough interest for another plugin along the lines of GT-Vouchers, but without the voucher-codes and download functions?
I would like to have a menu item on the Navigation bar that says “Local Offers” and direct to a page that has grid view of all places that have Active offers (if only I were proficient in PHP/SQL :>). This would be a great landing page – especially if it could have a ‘category’ widget for filtering offers by place category. So I could leverage 2 ‘dimensions’ of data:
1. the geo location (inherent in the geotheme)
2. the category of businesses
This way I could “Find offers in City from Sporting Goods Stores” …
Ultimately I may ONE day (;>) want to have an offer attached to a product category as well (I’m seeing a Product/Service taxonomy related to “Place”)… for example: “Find me all Places in City with vouchers on BMX Bicycles” … Imagine the power of this feature for all special occasion shopping (hey, it’s less than 3 months til Christmas!)
For now, I’d be thrilled with the first request — “Local Offers” on the Nav giving me a list of “Places with Offers” — Any chance of this feature/enhancement?

Installed the 1.7.7 release and tested it.
This release is much more faster than previous one. That’s great.
If I may, I would like here to make some comments that should not require a lot of development time:
1. When a pricing pack is not elligible to a voucher (Allow vouchers on these packages), should be logic NOT to show the “Edit Voucher” link or at least to mention when clicking on this existing link that this package does not support creation of Vouchers, please upgrade…
2. Being able to rename Voucher (mostly UK) as Coupon (mostly US).
3. Come back to listing page when saving or deleting a voucher. As a listing author, this would be better.
4. Solve the fav gtvicon class positionning in the CSS. This overwrittes the Add to Favorites message (I’m using BP Child 1.3.4)
(this was the same on GT previous release with BP Child 1.3.3). May be this is an issue of the theme…

In version 1.7.8 which is due out this week, I’m offering an option to use images instead of PDFs, and also replace the current preview (using the listing image) with an actual preview of the template. I cache those images so it should load faster still.
Regarding your comments:
1) Listings without valid packages should not show “Edit Voucher” – I’ll have to check that right away and ensure it is fixed
2) Another option. I’ll add this shortly.
3) Yes, it’s on the (lengthy) list
4) I can’t solve this entirely on my end. The theme doesn’t have any hooks, so I “hack” my way in using sneaky CSS. It sucks. There is a chunk of CSS you can add to make it work better. I think it was posted here recently.
Erick – I was right. The “Edit Vouchers” option does not appear if the package isn’t eligible.
BUT!!! If you’re the site admin, you can add a voucher to any listing.

I have been using GT Vouchers successfully for a while now, but have hit a problem. I’m sure the solution is staring me in the face, but I just can’t see it at the minute.
Up until now, I have personally been adding the vouchers for the listings from the back end, but now I want to allow my clients, the people who list on my site, to add the vouchers to their listings themselves.
My problem is I can’t see where they can do that.
If I allow them access to the admin area, the correct permission for adding and editing their vouchers are there, but so are a lot of other (non voucher related) options that I don’t want them to have access to. Different roles just give different options.
How do you guys and girls manage this?

Hey Philip – this is a feature from the very beginning. Any logged in user can add vouchers to any listing they own where they’re on the right package (one which allows vouchers).
The Edit Vouchers link appears in the sidebar.
Or are you talking about allowing them to upload new templates?
The next release will feature the (optional) ability for a user to upload a completed custom image. So if they’ve got a coupon they use elsewhere they could just upload it. It’ll be tracked like a normal voucher, but won’t allow custom text overlays.

The above CSS needs to be ADD to the style.css of your active theme. If it’s not getting referenced then something else is wrong.
There’s no way to change the PHP. Since GeoTheme doesn’t offer any hooks to adjust the page, I inject the link with jQuery.

I deleted the voucher plugin… reinstalled it… repupdated it.

I have 2 systems, 2 different servers. One is used in test, the other is used in production.
- On the test server, I dediced to remove the 3 SQL tables related to GT Vouchers. I reinstalled the 1.7.8.5 version. And it went ok. I can now create new vouchers and edit them.
- On the production server which is the same installation, this is not working. I have still a warning message at installation: “The plugin generated 196 characters of unexpected output during activation. If you notice “headers already sent”.

Hi Ron. Thanks for the feedback. There is definitely something wrong with the demo as far as the printing goes. I’m fixing it now.
When you’re logged in as demo user – on the backend (admin pages) you should find Vouchers in the left column. Within that menu is a CREATE option.
When you’re logged in on the public side there will be an “Edit Voucher” link in the right column.

I purchased your product and there seems to be an issue with one of the widgets. The GTV Latest Places widget doesn’t show only establishments with a voucher but instead shows all from the place category. Am i doing something wrong or is there a problem with the widget?

Funny, I remember replying to this, but don’t know where.
That widget is intended to show ALL the latest places, not just those with vouchers. It’s essentially the same as the original, but with the voucher icon showing on the listings.
At present, there is no widget that looks like that to show JUST vouchers. There is a GTV Most Recent Vouchers which provides a text list, suitable for the sidebar, of the most recen vouchers.
Oh, okay well thank you. Would this be something that could be incorporated with an update or otherwise later on one day? I think it would be a great tool to add. Thank you for the response though!
Hey Jeff, First off….great work! I downloaded and set this up. For some reason when I open the webpage the image on the voucher and the font and color I set on the dashboard are not displaying. When downloaded it comes out perfect.

How does this work with the iPhone App, will the voucher show under a listing?
Unfortunately probably not. I don’t have any way to test it, but the way the app’s API works would probably prevent it. The current version of the theme doesn’t make it easy at all to insert custom data.
The plugin isn’t built to handle that case either, as it’s based on downloading/saving the PDF or JPG, which is cumbersome on a smart phone.
If someone were to test it and give me some information about if it works, I’d love it.

First off, love the plugin. I have made a few mistakes though in setting up 2 vouchers. I did not save the “NAME” as anything so on the main voucher page I can not edit these vouchers. I tried deleting and re-installing. All of the old vochers were saved for some reason. Ideas? THANKS!

Managed to get a little further with things and have sorted out the issue where you were getting the ‘wsod’ on login, you should be able to login with ease now. Database tables were not being created, I used the SQL script to create the necessary tables and the vouchers are now saving perfectly. The only issues I have now are, I don’t have any voucher templates the folder wasn’t created on installation and can’t get the Facebook like system to work.
I think that this is theme based as the social side of things isn’t playing well on my site at all. I will come back to you if sorting the site ‘social addthis system’ doesn’t light up the voucher like system. If you have any ideas on this please feel free to let me know:-) If you could just post some guidance on what size a template should be and what it should be saved as that would be great.
This is one very slick plugin which when it is working without flaw will provide an eminence amount of value to any site. Takes a listing into a completely new market that must generate uptake of listings.

Glad you got further. I’m surprised at the database issues as it hasn’t been reported elsewhere on new installs, and it uses the same system WordPress does when adding/updating the database. That said, I will review the code to at least throw out some useful errors/comments so users aren’t left in the dark.
In the wp-content/plugins/GT-Vouchers folder there should be a template folder that came as part of the plugin. Copy that folder to your wp-content/uploads folder and rename it voucher_templates – that will put it where the plugin expects it.
Alternatively, you can delete the templates that are in the database and re-upload them. The first template 1.jpg is a blank that is used as a template for the templates. 1181 x 532 is the correct size.

really pleased with plugin and can recommend to anyone with GeoTheme.
Some feedback on 2 issues:
- in the Dashboard if you try to upload a custom voucher, it doesn’t seem to ‘hold it’ in view. You need to go to Media and find the URL, come back to settings and copy it into the field. This does work OK though.
- on the listing front end, the user can create a voucher using the defined templates, but I cannot see where they can upload their own custom voucher like you can do as admin. Have I missed something? Are you planning to add this?

This plugin is awesome. The ability to trade likes for coupons works brilliantly with facebook. It automatically pulls the first image from the slideshow, and let’s the user put in whatever copy they want for the post to facebook.

GT-Vouchers works just fine with Google XML Sitemaps, the problem is with SEO Ultimate and another I can’t remember. I personally recommend Yoast’s WordPress SEO plugin for sites.
I’m not sure where you read about the autoinstall addon. I am not working on such a thing as it would surely break the licensing of GeoTheme at this time.

The voucher doesn’t show up on the listing, just a small black box with error loading and even when previewed in the create voucher section it downloads the small error loading image, not the voucher. I have tried activating the watermark, that didn’t have any effect.

Sorry – the download link on the purchase confirmation page is not the latest release, after updating through the plugin settings on WP the image / pdf problem has been resolved, thanks, but the “voucher available” [S] banner notification bit on the listing page is still on top of the favourite button. The problem you’re having (and seeing on my site) with the overlap is due to GeoTheme’s child theme having a different structure from the main theme. Also, GeoTheme doesn’t allow direct filtering/changing of the output so I have to ‘hack’ into it.
My recommendation is to have your designer/developer add a CSS class to your stylesheet for the class gtvicon, which is a custom class that wraps that content.
Something like:

margin-top: 20px;
display: block;
}
Might work. I think there’s another answer in this thread somewhere, but I can’t find it right now.

Be sure to upgrade to the latest version. The user will be liking the Facebook page that is entered into the Place information in GeoTheme.

Yes, from the beginning, this plugin was built to accomodate both front- and back-end access for exactly this reason.
Currently, the only thing the front-end only user can’t do is upload a custom image to their voucher ( I believe )

I asked the same and apparently its a lot of work to get around this – For me it’s the only thing that lets it down (drops it from 5 to 4 stars) I haven’t pushed the voucher thing on my site because of this issue. Packages have a set number of vouchers available and obviously if multiples can be downloaded by one user it will cause havoc.
I felt that the voucher should be tied to the user log in so one voucher per user – it does need something to stop multiple downloads because as it stands at present using vouchers on packages is not workable.
HI websitu – I’ve seen that if you require an email address for download, then downloading it again appears to default saying “email address already used” but Im at the early stages of testing teh site and add on so may be wrong about that.
I also found that if I like a listings on FB, then that listing adds a voucher after my like I cannot “like the voucher to download” as it shows I had previously performed that action.

Sorry for the lack of communication. My day job has been quite taxing lately.
You’re right that WITHOUT registration one could download ALL the vouchers by revisiting the page. That one is hard to prevent.
However, if you register (by email address) you can download the same voucher repeatedly (it will be IDENTICAL) including the code on it and it will NOT affect the count. One registration = 1 voucher. And since each email address can only be used once per voucher, there should be no problem there.
I -can- prevent that behavior too. The original plugin stopped an email registrant from downloading the same voucher more than once, but I had many complaints that users would lose the download and they felt that restriction was too much.
As to the Facebook problem, where a listing is already liked – that is a truly tricky one, and something that I have yet to come up with a solution for.
My understanding (in part) is that the voucher and Facebook combination then allows the merchant to communicate with the user through Facebook, and thus uses your site as an introduction. Once they’ve Liked “Joe’s Restaurant”, Joe can offer future vouchers through Facebook.

see my posts above- yes you can set limits but one user is able to download ALL of the 20 vouchers – which defeats the object of it really.

I have a couple of questions.
I am trying to get the plugin to only show vouchers from places in the same city or region as where the user is viewing. I have added the gtv in the neighbourhood widget but it is displaying listings without vouchers too. Can you think of anything I might be doing wrong?
Also is it possible to filter the newest vouchers widget to the specific region the visitor is viewing?

The GTV In The Neighborhood widget works EXACTLY like the on included with GeoTheme, but allows me to place the “Has Voucher” indicator – hence it is not restricted to only show places with vouchers. I could make that an option though.
The Newest widget does let you choose a city – but I see how that’s not what you’re asking for… You want a dynamic auto-changing location. I should be able to add that as an option as well.

( I can provide server access to my demo site to you or the souce code of the theme). Not at this moment. Each theme is slightly different. For example, GeoPlaces stores their prices slightly differently as one example.
I am working on versions for other themes. If you’d like me to look at the other theme, submit a support ticket above with the details and I can have a look.

Hi JJJ, thanks for buying GT-Vouchers.
I’m afraid I don’t understand your first question. There are shortcodes listed in the readme.txt file that comes with the plugin to explain some of the options and show how you can show lists, also a couple of widgets that list vouchers.
I don’t understand what you mean by “Voucher category” at all. The vouchers are tied to listings, which are in categories, but the vouchers themselves don’t have categories.
As to your second question, that’s odd. The Admin should be able to add vouchers to any listing – even one without a package that allows it. I’ll double check. Perhaps something broke in the latest.

A suggested feature can you add a sort option by voucher on the geotheme category page.
Example if users visit a category and they want actually have only the listing that have vouchers listed.
Is that possible?

Unfortunately I don’t think that’s too easy. The theme itself doesn’t allow for a lot of integrated customizations. You’d have to do something like that by replacing pages with the child theme.
I read an article lately about how to do that with a plugin, but haven’t had any chance to play with it. My list of “things to try” is pretty long, but I’ll put this on it.

Hi Jeff, I don’t want to give my clients the option to upload their own template. What I would like to be able to do is use my own custom template, but pull their 1st photo from their listing into their voucher — AND have them both appear in the pdf or jpg for printing/downloading.
Can you steer me in the right direction on how I could achieve this? Or, better yet, are you up for some customization $$?

Currently this isn’t a feature of the plugin. It’s based on templates only, but I can see where your request makes sense.
I’ll have to take a look at how that could be done. I’ll let you know what I find.
Hey Jeff…I’m sure you’re knee-deep (and are hopefully beta testing GT4), but I was wondering if you had a chance to look into finding a solution to my customization request. Any luck?
Unfortunately I’m not beta testing GT4 – the guys have not made any comments about it yet, so I’m as in the dark as anyone.
The customization you mention can be done – it’s not too hard, but the easy version would be something along the lines of “Always put their first picture/logo in the upper right corner, 20 pixels from each edge” and not easily set per voucher or per template. Although something crude could be done, I think.
My current focus is on GT-Vouchers 2, which is a complete re-write including a new customizable template system. I’m writing the core of the plugin now, while waiting for the GT4 updates.
My question is about translation of the plugin. Where should I put translated files to show the translation?

Be sure that your .po and .mo files are in the languages folder of the plugin, and that they are named properly. For example: gt-vouchers-it_IT.po for the Italian language, based on the standard naming for translations. And that you are running WordPress in your language. Some additional plugins may allow you to translate parts of the site while running it in English. I haven’t played with the translations beyond ensuring that they work.
jeffrose – thank you. The problem was in names of language files. They were named not properly. Now it’s ok!
After thousand tries, I really can’t find how to add vouchers
(through the front-end) to a list/event, neither when I create the list/even nor when doing : create, then go to dashboard, and try to find a link for adding vouchers (this procedure has been given here somewhere or on Geotheme).
I can’t even do it through back-end !
So I ask again, did someone have the same problems? Any ideas to solve it?

On the front end, the logged in BUSINESS OWNER and ADMIN user should get a link in the right column that says “Create/Edit Vouchers”.
You say you can’t do it through the back end which sounds like a problem with the installation or setup.

What about the licence code, do people like me who purschased the plugin before you set this licence thing need such a licence to upgrade automatically?
As far as I can remember, when I first install GT Voucher, I had a warning message (or maybe when I first tried to automaticly upgrade) (I may have kept the message somewhere…;)) . Then I disabled the plugin because I wanted to deal with the problem later on. And when I make it able again, no more warning! So I started to use it like that.
That’s probably the cause of the current problem.

Upgrades have almost always been available from within the plugin via the standard WordPress auto-update method.
I think you said you’re running 1.7, which is old, but shouldn’t’ be a problem.
Please include an admin/backend login with your support ticket and I’ll update the plugin. I’ve just sent your license code now. For some reason I didn’t have the connection setup before.

We are thinking about converting our coupon site citycoups.com into geothemes and use your voucher plugin to deliver our coupons. Is there a way to have a listing disappear completely when coupon expires or do we have to set up listing to expire at same time as coupon. Also is there a function to roll expiation date automatically each month.

I bought the vouchers plugin for geotheme and it works fine….., but I dont want to create the voucher to each listing that want to have it, instead of that I want each owner to create its own voucher whenever they want. I spent about three hours to find out how apply this feature without any result. I activated the feature “Allow vouchers on these packages” and still, listings owners can’t create their own voucher.
Please help!!! IOnce again I dont want to create vouchers for any listing I dont have the time for it. the plugin is good, but without listing owner create feature is not useful for my site. this means I did bad purchase. This plugin has the feature to let owner to create vouchers?

The Edit Vouchers link appears in the sidebar.
Or are you talking about allowing them to upload new templates?
The next release will feature the (optional) ability for a user to upload a completed custom image. So if they’ve got a coupon they use elsewhere they could just upload it. It’ll be tracked like a normal voucher, but won’t allow custom text overlay

Great plug-in! We use it a lot and it works very well. I have two questions.
1) I just updated the plug-in and I see a License key, not sure what to put in there.
2) Also I’m not sure what check box to use so listing owners can download emails from their voucher area – I see the downloads: CSV but when I click it the email field is empty, it just shows the voucher field, date stamp field and code field, no emails. How do I get this to show for listing owners so they get the emails from the vouchers downloaded.

Yup! Requiring an email is one of the options. It actually sends the voucher TO the email address, so it has to be valid. The email is recorded and exportable from within the plugin.
This can be set as a requirement for all vouchers in Admin, or set on each unique voucher.

Hi Joel. As I said, the voucher is delivered to the user by email in the case of email registrations.
Therefore, the user must provide the name and email prior to downloading the voucher.
The plugin does not collect phone numbers at this time, but is something I could add as an option in the future.

Ive got your product already – I wanted to ask about any improvements for mobile optimised and mobile app versions.
Currently when viewing the vouchers on your phone I can download them to the phone images – which is ok. Can this be improved at all. I suppose they can be emailed to the the phone and then shown to the vendor. Is there any way we (or you rather) can think about improving the system for use on mobiles? Perhaps try and include a redeem code or something.
I’ve not tried the iPhone or Android apps with vouchers yet. BUT I’m looking for an option.
I create apps which include loyalty cards and vouchers BUT my issue is allowing user access to the backend to automate the updates. Which is where gethemes and yourself could really come in
With geotheme and your voucher plugin you could really provide a great solution for coupon marketing. I don’t know how to code these things but Id REALLY be willing to help thrash out what would be ideal as a solution.
Have you any plans to move in this direction?

Hi Paul:
The short answer is “Yes” – but part of the long answer is the way the current mobile apps api for GeoTheme works. I can’t insert voucher content, links or anything else into it – so it doesn’t work at all.
The mobile version of the site DOES work, but you’re right, it’s not quite ideal.
I am working on the next version of GT-Vouchers (2.0) and am looking at how mobile can be integrated. I’ve got requests for SMS marketing options. The current GT-Vouchers has the option of including “codes” on the voucher. Either static or random – so technically a static code could be used. Or if you upload an image you could have the code on the image.

Honestly I have no idea if this will ever happen.
This isn’t something I can do with the plugin at this point. The APP itself doesn’t allow the kind of integration required.
If you bought the iPhone or Android app from GeoTheme, and want the vouchers integrated, you’ll need to push the developers to allow/enable this somehow.
As this is one of the most popular plugins for GT, I would hope that this would be supported in the App. I am wondering if perhaps the App developer might be the better person to approach about integration instead of the GT developers?
I’m not sure how far you’d get with the app developer – since they pretty much work for GeoTheme. Ideally, it’s a feature that would be supported PROPERLY by the single app – and since it’s sold through GeoTheme, I’d think it’s up to them.
What I don’t want is for everyone to make their own changes to the app, and then have to try and make the plugin work with them all.
I just reviewed the code for the API – technically that code could be modified and possibly include the voucher, but it would need to be applied each & every time there’s an update. That’s a theory as I don’t have the app or access to a site connected to the app.

I’d be willing to set up a test site that connects to the app if that would help with development and in making te vouchers work well on apps and mobile optimised platforms.

I had a look at your site. Did you use the shortcode to insert the voucher into a page? Or what exactly am I looking at on that page?
If so, that could be a bug. I don’t think I’ve tested the shortcode in a while. The vouchers SHOULD work properly when you add a voucher to a place listing.
I’ll look at the shortcode later today, depending on your answer to the above.
I have used shortcode and its only showing the title of the voucher “Voucher name (30 characters)” on the page but it isn’t working on its way.

Im trying to create a voucher as admin – however when I navigate and choose an image, input the email, phone & facebook options etc I keep getting
“Sorry, your voucher could not be created. Please click back and try again”

Hi Jeff, same problem here as Paul. Was able to upload a custom voucher in back-end, but now gives the same error message above. Using 1.8.9. Am I right in thinking that the plugin now gives the facility for normal user to upload a custom voucher from front end? I cannot see that on my install.
Also, would expect the banner to override GeoTheme ‘Featured’ if set. It doesn’t appear to.

Sorry about this guys. Apparently the version checking isn’t working, so the database update isn’t working.
If you deactivate and then reactivate the plugin, that should fix it.
JohnH – No, a normal user cannot upload from the front end. – The GeoTheme Featured banner remains. A listing can be “normal” and still have a voucher attached, so it makes sense they would be separate.
ahhh so users cant upload there own images yet? bummer lol! that would make it a great feature…

Also, the existing vouchers appear on the front end OK, but can’t be used (gives message “Sorry, that item was not found”) but they don’t appear at all in the back end.

Hi Jeff, Great plug-in! – I just updated and it wiped out all the vouchers from the admin section and from the “edit voucher” section on the front end. Oddly enough, the vouchers are still on the site so, where did they go?

Hi Art – As mentioned in the previous comments, there’s a bug in the upgrade process.
Simply deactivate and re-activate the plugin manually and it should complete the upgrade and everything will come back.
